Samsung and Under Armour in new partnership

Is Samsung on the cusp of a partnership with Under Armour in an attempt to sell its new range of wearable health devices? According to a report from Yonhap News, this could well be the case. The report goes on to suggest the deal may also be a counter move to Apple’s existing relationship with sports powerhouse Nike.

The relationship could be seriously beneficial to both brands, for example the Apple-Nike coexistence has already helped Nike sell more of its trackers and more recently they announced that Nike+ would be one of the first to integrate into HelathKit.

The deal also comes off the back of Under Armour’s acquisition of MapMyFitness for $150m last year, which is also the company that Samsung reportedly worked closely with to develop its latest Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport smartphone (everything starts to fit together!). With Samsung new range of wearable devices, it will be interesting to see what the two (or three if you include MapMyFitness) can come up with!
