Strava app maker raises $18.5m

This week the San Francisco-based running  and cycling app maker Strava has raised $18.5m in its latest round of funding. Led by Sequoia, along with existing investors Signa West and Madrone Capital Partners, this brings the company’s total funding to an estimated $35m.

The funds are expected to help Strava continue its global expansion, with Michael Moritz, Chairman at Sequoia Capital, commenting about the future of the service: “Strava is building tomorrow’s sporting network in the manner that Facebook and LinkedIn have developed today’s social and professional networks.”
