The Friday Interview: Yaara Grinberg Dana, VP of Partnerships at MediSafe
Ahead of the Health 2.0 Europe conference next week (10th-11th November 2014) we got the chance to speak to Yaara Grinberg Dana, VP of Partnerships at MediSafe, who will be at the show. In this week’s Friday Interview, we discuss their business, industry trends and the future of digital health:
PH: Hi Yaara, could you please explain what MediSafe is?
YGD: MediSafe is an award winning, data-driven Medication Management Platform, designed to understand the personal causes of medication non-adherence and use this information in real time to create better patient engagement and raise medication adherence. MediSafe is rapidly being accepted by patients and caretakers. With now at 1,000,000 downloads (200% growth in Q1 2014) and data on over 70,000,000 medication doses, our consumer Virtual Pillbox app rating is 4.5/5* (by 42,000 raters) and best in its category. We won QPrize (Qualcomm Ventures’ annual competition, $250K prize), Traction (Health 2.0 annual startup competition), hold the “Digital Health World Cup” from Stanford and named the #4 “most innovative company in healthcare” by Fast Company.
PH: How does MediSafe make money?
YGD: Medisafe’s B2B2C business model is based on creating an eco-system that supports medication management. We collaborate with pharmaceutical companies, drug stores retailers, health insurers, employers and health providers.
PH: What’s coming next from MediSafe?
YGD: In terms of company growth, we are very excited to be opening a US subsidiary. Our CEO will be moving to the US to expand our presence there. In terms of our product, we are constantly working on expanding our platform, adding solutions (such as a web platform) and adding features that will support our users in managing their medications.
PH: What do you personally track on a daily basis?
YGD: Every day, I make sure I take my vitamins and drink enough water, and I use MediSafe to remind me. What’s great about it, is that my husband is my ‘Med-Friend’, and if I forget to take my B12, he receives an alert to check up on me.
PH: Lastly, what do you see as the future of self-quantification?
YGD: We are already seeing patients taking a more active role in managing their health. We envision MediSafe as the hub for all things related to a patients medication management, an informative solution providing patients with the tool to monitor and maintain their well-being, and become more accountable of their health.
